Job Overview:

The Marine team plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the tug and barge fleet.

This position is pivotal in overseeing all nautical matters for assigned vessels, maintaining compliance with safety regulations, and serving as the key link between ship management and operational teams.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

1. Voyage Planning and Monitoring:

    • Develop detailed voyage plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational guidelines.
    • Monitor and control voyages, providing real-time advice to Masters to optimize safety and efficiency.
    • Implement and oversee weather routing strategies to mitigate risks and enhance voyage performance.

2. Operational Support:

    • Act as the primary liaison between ship management and operations, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
    • Provide guidance to vessel Masters to ensure adherence to company policies and international maritime regulations.
    • Conduct vessel inspections and audits to maintain high operational and safety standards.

3. Compliance and Safety Management:

    • Ensure vessels comply with all local and international maritime regulations, including safety standards and environmental protocols.
    • Facilitate training and development programs for crew members, focusing on safety and operational excellence.

4. Incident Management:

    • Assist in the investigation and reporting of marine incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Provide expert advice during emergency situations, supporting decision-making processes to safeguard crew and assets.

Qualification & Skills:

1. Professional Background:

    • Must be a former Master Mariner with experience commanding tugs or seagoing vessels.
    • Strong understanding of tug and barge operations, including navigation, safety, and compliance aspects.
    • Familiarity with weather routing techniques and maritime regulations.

2. Skills and Competencies:

    • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively guide vessel Masters and coordinate with operational teams.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities with a methodical approach to handling challenges and emergencies.
    • Proficient in voyage planning, risk assessment, and report generation.

3. Education and Certification:

    • Valid Master Mariner certification or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of local and international maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code).
